  • Take shortcuts
    Step over, or walk under moving machinery
  • Attempt to repair, maintain or service any equipment, including electrical equipment unless qualified to do so
  • Enter any workshops unless properly dressed and authorised
  • Operate any equipment or plant unless trained and authorised
  • Wear loose clothing, dangling jewellery, or long hair in the workshops. Long hair MUST be inside a hat or net in these areas
  • Enter unfamiliar work-stations or unauthorised areas
  • Engage in running, rushing or horseplay
  • Enter ANY electrical switchboards
  • Attend work under the influence of alcohol or drug
  • Climb product racks, or stack product other than on an approved platform
  • Walk or stand under a suspended load
  • Allow unauthorised persons or children into workshops
  • Jump from heights, unstable surfaces or moving objects
  • Remove guards or safety devices from machinery or tools
  • Engage in practical jokes or horseplay
  • Ride on any part other than the designated seat of all vehicles, forklifts and mobile equipment
  • Use compressed air or gasses to clean clothes, hair or parts of the body
  • Use compressed air to cool yourself
  • Aim compressed air towards yourself or any other person
  • Smoke in any area other than the designated smoking zones, during allocated breaks
  • Allow customers to enter workshops unless they are accompanied at all times by the Service Manager (or their delegate) and are appropriately dressed
  • Wear watches, bracelets, rings loose jewellery or loose clothing near moving parts of tools or machinery

DO

  • Keep your work area clean and tidy
  • Keep passageways clear at all times
  • Keep a 1 meter radius area clear around all fire appliances
  • Ensure all guards and safety devices are in position and functioning correctly before operating
  • Observe all safety directional and Personal Protective Equipment signs at all times
  • Keep long and unruly hair confined inside a hat or net when working near rotating parts of tools or machinerty

 

Safety awareness

  • Wear appropriate substantial, closed-in footwear
  • Report all accidents and near misses immediately
  • Report all hazards immediately
  • Remove all trip hazards
  • Give way to all vehicles
  • Take extra care on slippery surfaces
  • Practice safe manual handling techniques
  • Keep an eye out for your co-worker’s safety
